Empowering nature guardians: Environmental Education in Piskovë

Piskovë, October 20, 2023. 16 students of the elementary school “1 Maji” in Piskovë, Përmet shared their experiences for the protection of nature during the next session of environmental education. The focus of the session was to appreciate the wealth of nature in their area and how they can protect it from potential pollution. Students were proud to share their experiences and engaged in hands-on activities that foster a deeper understanding of their environment.

The experiment on soil filtration commenced by cutting a bottle in half, inverting it, and puncturing holes in the bottle’s cap. Small stones were then placed inside, followed by the addition of water mixed with oil. This hands-on activity allowed them to observe how different materials can help filter pollutants from water, emphasizing the importance of protecting our natural resources.

Outdoor games were also played during the session. In one game, a student took on the role of a fox tasked with reaching a spring to drink water while encountering obstacles like predators, farms, roads, and hunters. In the following game, participants were grouped together to mimic the movement of a leaf held by a person, requiring them to adapt to various motions. This activity not only fostered teamwork but also instilled an appreciation for the interconnectedness of nature.

Overall, this session provided an enriching experience for the 1 May school students as they learned about environmental concepts through hands-on experiments and engaging outdoor games.
