Exploring Ways to Protect the Environment at the 9-Year School “Xhafzotaj”, Durrës

On March  6th, 2024, during an environmental education session, students from the 9-year “Xhafzotaj” school in Durrës were involved in an activity to promote awareness. During this activity, the creation of CO2 from the combination of acetic acid (vinegar) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) was demonstrated through a chemical reaction. The activity was carried out meticulously by the students and served to provide knowledge about carbon dioxide levels, its impact on our environment, and the importance of proper care for natural resources.

The focus of the experiment was on describing the chemical process and incorporating scientific knowledge about the increase in carbon dioxide levels. The use of plastic bottles for conducting the experiment served as an awareness-raising about recycling as a solution for environmental preservation. This helped students better understand the complex interactions in their environment and the importance of the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Renew) to protect the environment.

Through active participation, students were encouraged to develop a culture of environmental care and were motivated to take concrete actions in their daily lives to reduce pollution and protect natural resources.
