For the first time, experts from the universities of Albania, Austria and Germany will come together to present and discuss what is known about Vjosa and to identify gaps in knowledge. While the experts from Albania will bring the existing information about this river as support to elaborate development and management concepts, their colleagues from Austria and Germany will present the international standards for river science and the legal requirements of the European Union. The conference will try to answer the following questions: What do we know about Vjosa? What needs to be researched in accordance with EU standards? What needs to be assessed when preparing plans for hydropower plants? What role can Vjosa play in Europe’s river science?
