The Executive Director of EcoAlbania, Olsi Nika, recently gave an interview to the “Albanian Newspaper”, in which he spoke about the project of networking environmental organizations in Albania.
The project, which is being implemented by the consortium of organizations EcoAlbania, ACEG and the Institute for Public Policy and Good Governance with the support of LevizAlbania, has set up the online platform Engona.al, which aims to mitigate the fragmentation that exists among environmental organizations.
Nika told “Gazeta Shqiptare” that through the platform, organizations “can explore and exchange cooperation opportunities among themselves” from where they “can amplify the impact on decision-makers”. So far, about 50 organizations have become part of the platform, which have been divided into 4 thematic networks according to the areas of interest for: “Environmental Governance”, “Protection against environmental pollution”, “Protection of biodiversity and fauna”, as well as for “Advocacy and environmental research”. By working as a network, organizations provide more support, funding, influence, awareness and advocacy opportunities.
The membership of organizations is done through the Engona.al platform where each interested organization can be included in the relevant thematic network. In each of the four networks of the platform, contacts and data of organizations, summaries of activities and campaigns are published, thus providing more useful information for recognition by interest groups.
The platform also distributes for various projects in the field of environment.
