07 – 11 September 2020. 45 young people from Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro became part of the summer school “Youth Cooperation for the Cross-Border Dinaric Alps. EcoAlbania in cooperation with partners ERA in Kosovo and Green Home in Montenegro developed the summer school in the region of the Cross-Border Dinaric Alps. For a period of 4 days, 45 young people from Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro were trained about tourism, the environment and the socio-economics of this region. The summer school took place in three different places in the Alps region, in Lëpushë, Albania, in Bogë, Kosovo and Plavë, Montenegro. The young people were selected through an open call and published on all online platforms.
The summer school “Youth Cooperation for the Cross-Border Dinaric Alps” was aimed at creating bridges of cooperation between the youth of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro and raising awareness about the protection and promotion of the cross-border area of Bjeshke te Namuna / Prokletije / Albanian Alps. Young people were encouraged to see the Dinaric Alps not as a divisive geographical phenomenon but as a meeting point that encourages them to coopera
During the summer school, a series of activities were held with young people, such as training by experts in the fields of tourism, environment, socio-economics, as well as hiking, brain-storming, games, etc. During the training days, the young people also carried out cleaning actions in the Alps area. In the first days of the training, the young people got to know more about the area and its characteristics and the various problems encountered there, as well as hiking in the mountains was made possible for the young people to get to know the Alps region more closely. A call was also opened for the creation of project ideas from the young participants. At the end of the training, the young people divided into groups developed project ideas for the sustainable development of the cross-border area and suggested alternatives on the possibilities of cooperation, emphasizing the youth cooperation between the 3 countries.
General information: The summer school was held simultaneously in Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the youth of each country. The connection between the young people was made through the online platform Zoom and WhatsApp.
