Mengël, Elbasan, March 1st, 2024. Students of “Sulejman Rrançi” school in Mengël, learned more about atmospheric gases and experimented to discover how plants distribute oxygen on planet Earth through the marvelous process of photosynthesis.
During this experience, the students participated in a hands-on experiment to study plant pigments, especially chlorophyll, by extracting it from fresh green leaves. The leaves were treated with alcohol and then carefully observed for the separation of pigments on filter paper. This helped to highlight the colors and observe the different bands of chlorophyll pigments.
Through this experiment, the students not only deepened their understanding of processes like photosynthesis but also developed a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of nature. Encouraged by this experience, they gained insight into the imperative of environmental preservation and resolved to take proactive measures to safeguard and nurture the environment. The students were captivated by the intimate connection between plants and air quality, underscoring the indispensable role of photosynthesis in sustaining our ecosystem.
