Environmental organizations from Germany and Austria have joined forces with organizations from the Western Balkans to carry out the “Save the Blue Heart of Europe” campaign. According to their study, the construction of hydropower plants threatens freshwater ecosystems, but also increases the risk of flooding due to erosion and deforestation.
