On Biodiversity Day, it was a pleasure to celebrate with the enthusiastic students of “Hamdi Rrapi” school in Gjorm. It was an exciting day of learning and creativity, where the students dove into discussions about environmental protection, with a special focus on migrating birds. They explored the conditions necessary for these birds to migrate and feed during their long journeys to their final destinations.
The students were fascinated to learn that insects are a vital source of energy for migrating birds. To support these important creatures, the students took action by building “insect hotels” from cardboard and plant leaves. These small shelters are designed to protect and encourage the reproduction of insects, which play a crucial role in the food chain.
Biodiversity Day, celebrated on May 22nd, is a reminder of the importance of discussing and addressing biodiversity challenges. It is a day to reflect on how we can solve these issues to create a more balanced and sustainable environment for all living beings.
