The strong lobbying of the campaign “To save the blue heart of Europe” for the protection of the rivers of the Balkans and especially the river Vjosa in Albania, has also brought the reaction of the deputies of the European Parliament and is even expected to be discussed in the plenary session in Strasbourg.
During the discussions on the draft resolution of the rapporteur for Albania in the EP, Knut Fleckenstein in the Committee of Foreign Affairs, one of the MEPs raised concerns about the construction of the Langarica hydropower plant. MEP Igor Soltes, from the parliamentary group of the Greens, said that this issue is an environmental and economic concern, which, although included in Fleckenstein’s draft resolution, should also be raised at the plenary level.
