Vjosa Day: National Park Vision

The Vjosa Day was organized for the first time by EcoAlbania on 60.06.2015 and it was designed as a colorful celebration day with the participation of communities of the Vjosa valley. The aim of this activity was to show the values of the area through food fairs, handcraft products, folklore, and exhibition of photos from the natural beauties of the river and to raise the awareness on the biggest threats of this river which are the hydropower plant constructions. The Vjosa Day brought together various personalities like: politicians, artists, etc.

Four years after the first celebration of the Vjosa Day, the River is still at risk of being disrupted and destructed by the large hydropower dams in Kalivaç and Poçem. EcoAlbania and its partners will use the symbolic Vjosa Day to announce the vision of the Vjosa River National Park. Thus a series of activities will be carried out on this purpose.

Informative meeting (June 6th)

The meeting is designed to be an informative meeting with the relevant decisionmakers in terms of the National Park proclamation. The informative workshop will gather all relevant stakeholders (Ministry of Environment and its relevant Agencies; Local Government Units, Academia, NGOs,). The aim of this meeting will be the announcement of the National Park vision for the Vjosa.

Photo exhibition (June 13th-16th)

A photo exhibition will be organized on June 13th – 16th, at the National Museum. The photos will show the beauty of the Vjosa valley and the life of the affected communities.
