This project aims to restore ecological connectivity in the Vjosa River basin by identifying and assessing obsolete and non-functional barriers across its tributaries. Through systematic mapping and evaluation, the initiative will develop an open-access database and a prioritized list of structures suitable for removal, helping to improve fish migration, natural river flow, and overall ecosystem health.

By reconnecting fragmented tributaries, the project strengthens the ecological integrity of the Vjosa Wild River National Park and contributes to national and EU river restoration goals. The initiative is supported by the European Open Rivers Programme and funded by Arcadia.
