In the episode of the program ePlanet of the ZDF (German public service broadcaster) arguments against the common position on dams and hydro power plants being green and providing green energy are presented.
Because still today, hydro power is promoted as a green energy. But the concerns accumulate, as every dam or plant has a severe ecological impact. This is not limited on fish and other animals, but also to the movements of sediments.
The documentation puts its focus on the rivers on the Balkan, as they are the last mainly pristine rivers in Europe and considered to be the “Blue heart of Europe”.
